Puerto Rico: What We Packed

One child. Two adults. Three carry-ons. Eight days.

How does a small family spend more than a week in Puerto Rico without checking any luggage? Pack light? Yes. And be sure to rent a condo with in-unit laundry.

For eight days of swimming, hiking, sightseeing, and lounging...

Here's what we packed:

Additional Items

All of the clothing pictured fit into two carry-on bags. We carried on a third bag with toiletries, 2 Tide single-load laundry packets, an iPad, coloring books and crayons, magazines and books, a deck of "Disney Apples to Apples" cards, and a couple of Mag's stuffed animals.

We used everything we packed, with the exception of the rain ponchos we had been advised to take for hiking in El Yunque. There was nothing we left at home that we wished we had brought. So, all in all, a successful packing event.

How about you? Have you mastered packing light? Or is your checked bag your best travel buddy?
